I'm very proud to finally present the beautiful video from the Hollywood session last December at the Warner Bros. Eastwood Scoring Stage. Please enjoy!

A few days ago one of my life dreams came true: The amazing LA studio musicians played my music at the legendary Warner Bros Eastwood Scoring Stage, recorded by Dennis Sands (Alan Silvestri's scoring mixer). Performed by the same musicians, who played on almost all my favourite movie soundtracks and recorded in the same studio, where 30 year ago "Back To The Future" was recorded (to name just one), I have to say this was one of the most intimidating and most exciting moments in my life. Although I couldn't attend the session in person, I was able to listen via stream. Thanks to Hollywood Scoring for providing me with this opportunity. Audio & Video following in the next weeks. Below is a short recap with some early impressions of the session:
During fall I wrote three demo tracks for new sample libraries by developer Orchestral Tools, which can be heard here:
Violin Fantasy (official demo for Orchestral Tools' 'Nocturne Violin')
Festival of the Dragon (official demo for Orchestral Tools' Berlin Percussion)
Born to Protect (official demo for Orchestral Tools' Metropolis Ark 1)
I'm very proud to have won this years' German Game Developer Award (Deutscher Entwicklerpreis) in the category 'Best sound' for my soundtrack for 'The Book of Unwritten Tales 2' together with KING Art Games. The game was also awarded as the 'Best console game' of the year. Congratulations to all involved!
In June I had the great pleasure to arrange three songs for Fish, ex-frontman of Marillion ('Kayleigh, is it too late to say sorry?...') and the Staatskapelle Halle for their 'Bridges to Classics' concert at the Händelfestspiele Halle, conducted by Bernd Ruf. Please check out one of my contributions here: After months of composing, orchestrating and preparing the soundtrack for The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, the new KING Art adventure game finally released on last Friday. Thanks to all the Kickstarter backers, we were able to record most of the score live with the fantastic City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The soundtrack, which includes over 60 (!) minutes of music, is available through the Almanac Edition (both digitally and physically) of the game. Please support the developer by buying the game! Check out the official release trailer for the game, which includes a little (Hobbit spoof) tune, I specially wrote for the trailer. Please enjoy ;-) This year I was invited to be a part of the jury for the German Game Music Award 2014, which took place last Friday (November 28) in the legendary "Bremer Glocke" (one of the best sounding concert halls in Europe). Besides the competition part, the Landesjugendorchester Bremen also played pieces from various games. Among others, my overture to "The Raven - Legacy of a Master Thief" and a large, symphonic suite of my soundtrack for "The Book of Unwritten Tales 2" was premiered during the concert event. In case you missed the concert or the live stream, a full video recording is now online on YouTube. This video starts directly with the "The Book of Unwritten Tales 2" - Symphonic Suite: What a pleasure to watch all these young and talented people playing game music so passionately. I will certainly remember this evening!
![]() As promised several times I finally added a new section to the website, where you can download my score sheets for free. The scores are provided for studying purposes only. Unauthorized publishing copying or selling is strictly prohibited. For the launch of the section, you can download the Overtures from "The Book of Unwritten Tales" and "The Raven", as well as the Main Theme for "The Book of Unwritten Tales 2". Please enjoy listening, reading and studying! I recently have been interviewed by Chris Greening for Game Music Online. In the Interview I talk about my
musical background, my philosophy and my projects, including the most recent "The Book of Unwritten Tales 2". Please have a read if you're interested in my work! After months of composing, orchestrating and session preparing, we finally recorded the first half of my soundtrack to "The Book of Unwritten Tales 2" on September 9 at Smecky Studios, Prague. The session went smooth and "The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra" was playing really well under the baton of Adam Klemens, while David Christiansen (our session producer) and I were carefully listening and producing from the booth. We were able to record around 17 minutes of music for the first two chapters of the game and we will revisit Prague in November to record the rest of the soundtrack. Here's the Main Theme, recorded by Jan Holzner and mixed by Gareth Williams: Danica Steinhauser from KING Art Games, who maintains the game's video blog, shot some beautiful video footage, which can be watched here: Many thanks to all the Kickstarter backers, who made this recording possible!
Special thanks to David Christiansen (session producer), Andrew Osano (scoring assistant), Danica Steinhauser (video footage), James Fitzpatrick (orchestra contractor), Adam Klemens (conductor), Jan Holzner (music engineer), Gareth Williams (music mixer), Jiri Simunek (music preparation), Stanja Vomackova (translator) and all I forgot. |
